Your Career Journey
Starts Here
At Fairfax Radiology Centers, we invest in great talent. That's why we've designed specific career paths to help you grow your career with us. No matter what career area you're in, you'll find ways to achieve your goals, all while making a positive impact on our patients and community.
Same Position Career Growth:
Level I (entry level)
Level I positions are entry level. Job requirements vary depending on the role, but typically require 1-2 years of related experience, in addition to job-specific qualifications (knowledge of patient registration, ICD-10 coding, customer service skills, etc.).
Level II
Level II positions require candidates to demonstrate competence in all routine responsibilities, as well as in most of the more complex and non-routine responsibilities. Candidates must show consistent delivery of great service to customers and patients.
Level III
Candidates for Level III roles must demonstrate competence in the most difficult duties of the position and are viewed as subject matter experts. Level III roles require candidates to provide training to peers, become a decision-maker for their area and serve as a role model in customer service, professionalism and mature judgement.
Senior
If your position does not have a set career path, there are opportunities to move into a Senior role. Candidates interested in a Senior role are not required to reach Level III and can move into this position at any level. To become a Senior, candidates must demonstrate competence in all responsibilities, perform the most complex tasks associated with their role and be aligned with the company's and customers' interests.
Supervisor Growth:
Lead
To be considered for a Lead position, candidates must meet all requirements of a Senior role. Leads are expected to assign work, prepare staff schedules and fill in for the Supervisor when needed. Leads promote quality and service standards, act as trainers for new employees and provide on-the-job training to other staff. Lead roles typically require 3+ years of experience at Fairfax.
Supervisor
Supervisors demonstrate a deep knowledge and understanding of their area of specialty, as well as strong leadership and management skills. Supervisors are directly responsible for supervising their department, including hiring, approving time requests and payroll, implementing disciplinary action and overseeing performance management. Some Supervisors may be required to oversee others with different specialities or job titles. Supervisor roles require 4+ years of related experience.
Manager
Candidates must demonstrate competence in many of the technical roles within the department, as well as a strong understanding of the business, including budgeting, staffing and patient satisfaction, to be considered for a Manager position. Managers have expansive knowledge of FRC policies and procedures, as well as our Management Standards. Manager positions require 5+ years of related experience.
Director
Directors must meet all of the requirements for a Manager position, as well as demonstrate the ability to create, monitor and impact financial and quality metrics. Directors are also responsible for creating and implementing improvement initiatives. Candidates interested in a Director role must possess a college degree and 10 years of experience (a combination of comparable education and experience may be considered).
Senior Director
Senior Directors have the same responsibilities as a Director with the addition of managing multiple functions or locations. Senior Directors also lead complex projects and multi-disciplinary initiatives. These roles require a college degree and 15 years of experience (a combination of comparable education and experience may be considered).
Cross-Discipline Career Growth
At Fairfax Radiology Centers, we want our employees to find their passion. We offer cross-discipline career growth opportunities that allow our staff to move between departments. For those interested in Senior Leadership roles, we strongly encourage having experience in more than one area to be better prepared to take on more responsibility.
Move to Corporate
Employees currently in an Imaging Center Administration role can move into various Corporate roles, including Patient Resource Center, Human Resources, Patient Accounts, Marketing, Scheduling or IT. Candidates interested in this path must have 1 year of experience in their current position, as well as a great performance record and demonstrate an aptitude for their desired Corporate role. In some cases, a certification or additional course may be required.
Move to Clinical
Moving into a Clinical role requires trade school or an associate degree in a related field. Candidates already in a Clinical role can cross-train in a new modality. Cross-training is available between X-ray, DXA, CT, MRI, Breast MRI and Mammography. Cross-training is also available between Nuclear Medicine and PET, as well as General Ultrasound and Breast Ultrasound.
